The Kawartha Quiltmakers' Guild was founded by Joyce Armstrong in November of 1981. The name Kawartha represents the urban and rural members. The name quiltmakers was chosen because "we are makers of quilts, not just quilters".
Thirteen members began by meeting in each other's homes. We are now a guild of around 170 members.
The purpose of our guild is to provide a forum for quilters to meet and exchange ideas and to enrich our quilting experience through speakers and demonstrations.
